Joseph Wayne Freer, 59, of Hopewell, died on Monday, March 18, 2019 at his daughter’s residence. He was born on June 5, 1959, in Cheverly, MD, a son Charles Wayne Freer of Lanham, MD and the late Ann Marie (Howard) Freer. On July 26, 1986, in Odenton, MD, he married Susan Marianne (Ray) Freer who survives along with the following family: two daughters, Amanda Dick and husband Kyle, of Martinsburg, Katelynn Nesbit and husband Sam, also of Martinsburg, a step-son, Ray Foster, of Buffalo, NY. Four grandchildren: David, Zachariah, Hailey, and Juliana; two sisters, Mary Anne Price of Crofton, MD; Theresa Tintle and husband Mark, of Shadyside, MD; one brother, Robert Freer, of Lanham, MD; mother-in-law, Evelyn Medlar, of Stevensville, MD; and a sister-in-law, Kathi Snook and husband, Larry of Bowie, MD.
Joseph was an SGT in the U.S. Air Force and served with the 388 Tactical Fighter Squadron (1978-1982). He worked as a building maintenance engineer for the Government Services Administration at the Triangle Service Center for 25+ years. He enjoyed working on his farm, hobbyist of model trains, completing continuing education courses and always cherished time with family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor David Duckworth officiating. Burial at Bedford Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
