Janet E. (Lamison) May

Janet E. May 80, of Bedford, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 24, 2018 at home after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was born on July 12, 1937 in Johnstown a daughter of the late David and Catherine (Oppy) Lamison.  On April 29, 1957 in Winchester, VA she married Charles ‘Chuck” May who survives along with five daughters: Teresa Journey and husband Don, of Emerald Isle, NC, Cindy Davis and husband Dave, of Johnstown, Terri Sechler and husband Terry, of Bedford, Laurie Macey and husband Greg, of Leesburg, VA, and Linda Salamon and husband Wayne, of Frederick, MD; eleven grandchildren: Chris Sechler, Matthew Davis and wife Kate, Bradley Sechler and wife Contessa, Kevin Davis and wife Chaya, Allison Clay and husband Tim, Erin Bravo and husband Daniel, Meredith Journey, Andrew Salamon and wife Ali, Dr. Heidi Macey, Amanda Salamon, and Hanna Macey; six great-grandchildren: Iris and Anna Davis, Marissa and Samuel Sechler, Luca Davis, and Mikaela Bravo; and three brothers: David Lamison and wife Ellen, William Lamison, and Robert Lamison and wife Betsy.

Janet was a 1955 graduate of Bedford High School and a member of Friends Cove United Church of Christ.  She was known for her delicious family meals, love of gardening, crafts, tea parties, fairy gardens, and caring for the many cats they rescued. Janet loved to travel with family, including their trips to Disney World.  She loved her family and touched their lives in so many ways.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. William Shrout officiating.  Burial at Bedford Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Wednesday, from 4-7 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.  Those wishing may make memorial contributions in Janet’s name to: Bedford County Humane Society, 1108 Lutzville Road, Everett, PA 15537.
