Hilda J. Weaverling 96, of Everett, died Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Carrol’s Rest Home.  She was born on September 15, 1920 in Robinsonville, a daughter of the late John N. and Nora (Gordon) Messersmith.  She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon S. Weaverling on January 14, 1995.  She is survived by a son, Michael Hanks, of Everett; three grandchildren: LeeAnn Foor and husband Greg, Lynn Penrod, and Buck Johnson, and wife Brenda; five great-grandchildren: Mallory Lancaster, and wife Tynicia, Hayley Foor, Jesse Penrod, Kelsie Morris and husband Tim, and Brad Johnson and wife Lauryn; and a great-great-granddaughter, Gia Mae Johnson.  She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Gail (Johnson) Hanks on July 14, 2005; four brothers: Raymond, Marshall, Conda, and Glenn Messersmith; and three sisters: Bertha Cavender, Cora Smith, and Dorothy Kriner.

Hilda was a member of the Clear Ridge Fellowship Church, and retired on September 30, 1982 from Lion Manufacturing after 35 years of employment.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor Curtis Bryant officiating.  Burial at Friends Cove UCC Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 5-8 p.m., at the funeral home.  Our online guestbook is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com
