Doyle G. Feather

Doyle G. Feather 87, of East Freedom, died Monday, September 23, 2019 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.  He was born on April 12, 1932 in Port Matilda, a son of the late I. Frank and S. Elizabeth (Bowman) Feather.  On May 18, 1952 in Imler he married Dona Faye (Barefoot) Feather, who preceded him in death on September 1, 2014.  He is survived by the following family: a son Douglas Feather and wife Carol of Bedford, a son Rodney Feather and wife Chris of Hollidaysburg, and a daughter Tammy Feather-Wishard and husband Allen, of Bedford; seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Feather) Danis and husband Edward of Bristow, VA, Melissa (Feather) Lindstedt of Blythewood, SC, Brett Feather and wife Catherine, of Florence, NJ, Mandy (Miller) Shippy and husband Jason, of Harrisonville, Jessica (Feather) Wertz and husband Travis, of Bridgeville, Jason Miller and wife Lacey, of Claysburg, and Nisa (Feather) Makowiecki and husband Sean, of Martinsburg; two step grandchildren: Ryan and Brooke Wishard, both of Hagerstown, MD; ten great-grandchildren, and a sister Rilla Metz widow of Merle, of Roaring Spring.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Wilmer Feather.

Doyle owned and operated Doyle’s Flower Shop in Bedford for many years before his retirement.  He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and attended Christ Church in Roaring Spring in his recent years.  Doyle enjoyed remodeling houses, gardening and spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor Joel Kletzing officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park with full military rites by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.  Friends will be received on Thursday, from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service on Friday.  Our online guestbook is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
