Donna Merie Bischof

February 23, 1932 ~ May 23, 2018 (age 86)

Donna Merie Bischof, 86, of Schellsburg, returned to her heavenly home on May 23, 2018. She was born on February 23, 1932, in Johnstown, a daughter of the late Grant and Eleanor (Way) Yoder. On April 19, 1954 in Johnstown, she married Herbert J. Bischof Sr. who preceded her in death on March 5, 2003. She is survived by four sons: David Bischof, of Johnstown, Herbert Bischof Jr. and friend Sue, of Manns Choice, Scott Bischof and wife Lisa, of Spring Hope, Craig Bischof and fiancée Deena, of Bedford; a daughter-in-law,  Karen Elliott, of Bedford. 10 grandchildren:  Grant Bischof and wife Mandy, Jason Bischof and wife Jessica, Kristin Bischof and wife Samantha, Kelly Lashshinsky and husband Scott, Jacob Bischof, Kayla Smith and husband Brian, Jesse Bischof and wife Angie, Joey Bischof, Katherine Brady and husband Joel and Kimberly Bischof; and 13 great grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by a special daughter-in-law Janice E. Bischof.

Donna graduated from Johnstown High School in 1950 and Cambria Rowe in 1952. She went on to assist in running the historic Graystone Hotel in downtown Bedford and met many young mothers while working as an administrative assistant for Dr. Gordon and Dr. Tucci.  Donna was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford and was known for her love of animals especially poodles. She had exceptional cooking skills and enjoyed her time as a member of the Pleasantville VFW ladies auxiliary and the time she spent at the “Cottages” among family and friends.  The Family wishes to thank Janet and Val for their kindness over the years.   

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 10:00 am, in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Father Richard Tomkosky officiating.  Burial at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Friday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Donna’s name to the Bedford County Humane Society, 1107 Lutzville Road, Everett, PA 15537.  Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
