Mary R. Growden, 99, of Bedford, went to be with the Lord on her 99th birthday on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Maybrook Hills in Altoona. She was born on November 14, 1917, in Bedford, a daughter of the late George L. and Elizabeth (Beemiller) Leonard. On October 5, 1938, in Cumberland, MD, she married Kenneth A. Growden and he preceded her in death on August 5, 2009. She is survived by three sons: Leonard K. Growden married to the former Janet Barefoot, of Bedford; Thomas L. Growden married to the former Althea R. Kegg, of Bedford, Robert J. Growden married to the former Kimberly Blye of Bedford; three grandchildren Amy Lohr, April Kaczenski, and Heather Growden; four great grandchildren: Jacob Eagleson, Jesse Lohr, Joshua Lohr, Alyssa Kaczenski; two great great grandchildren:  Layla and Liam Eagleson.  She was preceded in death by a grandson: Eric Growden, two brothers, Gerald and Joe Leonard, and one sister, Elizabeth Preston.

Mary was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church. She was a member for the American Legion Ladies Auxillary and worked as a nurse at one time for Donahoe Manor Nursing Home.

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., at the St Thomas Catholic Church with Father Richard Tomkosky Celebrant.  Burial at St. Thomas Catholic.
