Harry J. Hite 69, of Friends Cove, died Sunday, October 08, 2017 at his residence.  He was born on December 9, 1947 in Cumberland, MD a son of the late Randolph and Ruth (Dermer) Hite.  On June 7, 1969 in Bedford, he married Jeannie (Koontz) Hite who survives along with three daughters: Jen Miller and husband Mike, of Inwood, WV, Jodi Skipper and husband Jason, of Bedford, and Jesse Emrick and husband Eddie, of Bedford; four grandchildren: Cade Miller, Daylee Emrick, Addy Miller, and Blake Emrick; and several special nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Anita (Hite) McDonald.

Harry received his Bachelor’s Degree in Dairy Husbandry from Delaware Valley College.  While at Delaware Valley he studied the cultivation of soy beans, and was the first farmer in the area to plant and harvest the crop.  An agricultural innovator he succeeded in turning sunflowers into a cash crop. Harry enjoyed working, a true workaholic, who was involved in numerous agricultural organizations.  He had a love for showing cattle with his father, and then daughters, as well as being a 4H Leader.  In his spare time Harry enjoyed restoring antique cars, shooting sporting clays, tractor pulling, and woodworking.  He loved hunting with his friends and daughters, cheering his grandchildren at their sporting events, and visits from his grand dog.  Harry was a member of the Friends Cove United Church of Christ, and was the Colerain Township Supervisor for 36 years.  His greatest pride was raising his family, and expanding it to 12.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., at the Friends Cove UCC Church, with Rev. Paul Claycomb, and Pastor Paul Crawford officiating.  Burial at Friends Cove UCC Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Timothy A.
