Gerald J. O'Brien, 84, of Osterburg, died on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 22, 1933, in New Baltimore a son of the late Joseph and Olive (Schaab) O'Brien. He is survived by a daughter, Beverly Patten and husband Steven, of Manns Choice; a son, Tracy  O'Brien, of Bedford,  and a son, John  O'Brien,  of Osterburg; six grandchildren:  Brian Patten, Myranda O’Brien, Xiomara O’Brien, JoDee Wheeler, Janelle Smith, and Nativa O’Brien; one great grandson Brock Patten, three sisters: Margaret  Hillegass, of Buffalo Mills, Rita Fulton, of Bedford, Anna O'Brien, of Bedford; two brothers: Harold O'Brien,  of Harrisburg,  and Frank O'Brien and wife Thelma, of Everett.  He was preceded in death by a son Chris O’Brien, six sisters:  Helen O’Brien, Mary Imgrund, Rose Fochtman, Irene O’Brien, Theresa Drenning, and Evelyn Fletcher; two brothers:  Robert and Leo O’Brien.

Gerald was of the Catholic faith and Served in the Army during the Korea War with the rank of Corporal in the Infantry Squad.  He worked in a business with his brothers in the Timber Industry.  After he retired he enjoyed his dogs and gardening.
