Fred H. Fink

Fred H. Fink 91, of Bedford, died Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.  He was born on December 2, 1925 in Hopewell, a son of the late Martin R. and Norma G. (Fluke) Fink.  On September 4, 1948 in Cumberland, MD he married Lois J. (Koontz) Fink, who survives along with two daughters: Phyllis wife of Thomas Scott of Belcamp, MD, and Barbara wife of Barry Ressler, of Bedford; six grandchildren: Kristi Arnold wife of Shawn, Jason Ressler, and wife April, Jacob Scott, Brian Scott, Rob Scott, and Rebecca Wolf; and 10 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two sisters: Grace Truax, and Pearl Hoffman; and two brothers: James and Roy Fink.

Fred was a 1944 graduate of the Robert P. Smith High School.  He then served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre.  After the war he was a structural ironworker for Pittsburgh-Des Moines and Bethlehem Steel for 21 years, and then worked self-employed before retiring.  He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Bedford Elks Lodge #1707, Bedford Moose Lodge #480, Bedford American Legion #113, Bedford Lodge 320 F&AM, and the Altoona Consistory.

Funeral services will be held private.  Arrangements by the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford.  In lieu of flowers those wishing may make contributions in Fred’s name to: Elks Major Projects, 937 S.
