Eufemia (Galura) Doyle

Eufemia Galura Doyle, 93, of Bedford died on September 29, 2017 at her residence. She was born on March 20, 1924, in the Philippines, a daughter of the late Valeriano Hernandez and Maria (de los Santos) Galura. In 1946 she married her husband Alfred Doyle who preceded her in death on April 13, 2004. She is survived by the following family: a daughter, Rebecca Doyle Denike and husband John, of Monroe, CT; a step-daughter, Judy Ditton, of Bethesda, MD; a granddaughter, Kelley Keane; three great grandchildren:  Mariah, Gavin, and Avery; two brothers, Jose Galura and wife Esther, of Butler, Constantino Galura and wife Melendrina,  of Bensenville, IL; three sisters, Estela Marin widow of Pacifico,  of Las Vegas, NV, Florentina Galura of Manila, Philippines, Clara Estaris widow of Franco,  of Baguio City, Philippines; 12 nephews:  Brett, Pacifico, William, Xerxes, John, Ernesto, Joel, Prisciliano, Johnny, Ricardo, Reynaldo, and Julius; 14 nieces:  Gemma, Marilyn, Carole, Teresita, Christina, Menzi Maria, Stephanie, Noli, Adalia, Herlina, Judy, Corina, Lilia, and Evelyn. She was preceded in death by her father- in- law, Charles Wray, and mother-in-law, Blanche Wray; two brothers, Alfonzo and Gaudencio Galura, and two sisters Apolinaria Galura Simeon and Lucia Galura Tan; three nephews:  Leonardo, Edwardo and Rolando.

Eufemia was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church and a 71 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she served as president for two terms. She worked as a secretary for Fritz’s Appliance Store and before that was a secretary and interpreter for Furukawa Mining Company, and secretary and bookkeeper for American West Pacific Command both companies were in the Philippines.  She loved to bake, and make Filipino food for her friends. She was also a great seamstress and was honored to make gowns for Miss Virginia.  A Special thank you to her compassionate and understanding caregivers.  We were blessed to have all of you.   

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at 12:00 p.m. at the St. James Episcopal Church, in Bedford, with Rev. Patrick Pierce officiating.  Burial will be private Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford.
