Cyrus E. Sturtz

Cyrus E. Sturtz Jr., 93 of Carlisle, formerly of Bedford, died Thursday, August 25, 2016, at the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home, in Carlisle.  He was born on September 10, 1922, in Glencoe, a son of the late Cyrus E. and Mable (Shoemaker) Sturtz Sr.  He was married to Goldie (Holsopple) Sturtz and she preceded him in death.  He is survived by a son, Roger Sturtz and wife Judy, of Carlisle; three grandchildren: Amy, Lisa, and Richard Sturtz; two great-grandchildren: Ezra and Cora Adelman; a brother Raymond Sturtz, of Stoystown, and a sister Julia Bridges, of Akron, OH.  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Sturtz, and a son, Charles Ogline.

Cy was a WWII veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre with the US Army.  He then went on to retire from the Toledo Scale Company, retiring to Bedford.  He was a member of the Manns Choice Church of God, and enjoyed playing guitar, painting, and woodworking.  He was also an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and camping.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. Richard Whetstone and Aaron Whetstone officiating.  Burial at Sunset Memorial Park.  Friends will be received on Monday, from 10:00 a.m., until the hour of the service.
