Charlotte “Bobbie” Long, 96, of Bedford, died Monday, February 20, 2017, at UPMC Altoona Hospital.  She was born on November 22, 1920, in Bedford, a daughter of the late Reese and Nora (Griffith) Greenland.  On April 18, 1942 in Cumberland, MD, she married J. William Long, who preceded her in death on August 3, 1976.  She is survived by five daughters: Hester Miller and husband Lloyd, of Hershey, Charlotte Thompson, and husband Carl, of Fishers, IN, Beverly Fisher widow of Terry, of Bedford, Nancy Bentley and husband Robert, of Fairfax, VA, and Jonna Baker and husband Charles, of McConnellsburg; 10 grandchildren: Greg Miller, Eric and Sean Thompson, Amanda Strait, Nora Fisher, Jason Bentley, Eleanor Sipes, Renee Earley, Lory Mester, and Michelle Lang; and 16 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Bentley, three brothers: Miles, Charles, and Bill Greenland; and three sisters: Hester Hoke, Leathean Richards, and Louise Miller. 

Bobbie was a member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church.  She was a school bus driver for over 40 years for the Chestnut Ridge School District.  She was also the Napier Township Tax Collector for 10 years, and the Treasurer for the Democratic Party of Bedford County for many years.  Bobbie raised five girls, and loved to bake and make pickles for her children, and grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor Earl Stewart officiating.  Burial at Schellsburg Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Thursday, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.  In lieu of flowers those wishing may make memorial contributions in Charlotte’s name to: Bedford Area Ambulance Service, 130 W.
