Charles D. Arnold, 88, of Bedford, went to be with the Lord on March 14, 2017 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital, following a brief battle with cancer. He was born on September 21, 1928, in Bedford, a son of the late George and Stella (Earnest) Arnold. On June 18, 1950, he married Marilou Dahle, who preceded him in death on January 25, 1992. He is survived by two daughters: Sharon Ellis widow of Lewis, of Charlotte, NC, and Martha Scheidecker and husband Bill of Hampton, IA; a son, Timothy Arnold of Bedford; 4 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother G. “Donald” Arnold, and special friend, Irene, of Baltimore, MD; and his sister-in-law Mary Ellen Arnold of Bedford. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Mitchell, two brothers: Paul Victor Arnold and William Dale Arnold; a sister Hazel M. Gates, and a baby brother Ernie Arnold.

Charles lived in Bedford all his life, graduating from Bedford High School in 1946. He worked as a building contractor with his brother Dale, and leaves many examples of his craftsmanship in the Bedford area. He was always willing to lend a hand, often doing repair jobs for people on his own time. He was a member of the Bedford Bible Truth Assembly and he enjoyed attending Bible Conferences in many places. He loved to tell people about the Lord Jesus, and give out gospel tracts.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with David Johnson officiating. Burial will be private. Friends will be received on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home, and on Saturday one hour prior to the service.
